March 4, 2001 -- League Organizational Meeting

At the annual HT League meeting in Monona at the Village Lanes, Cambridge was voted in as a new team to the league.  The total of teams in the league is 44.  

 

The realignment committee presented a suggested realignment proposal to the league and it passed.

 

Also in new business the league voted to use only wood bats for the 2001 season.  The motion passed by almost a 2 to 1 margin.

 

July 5, 2000 - Team Creates Fireworks During 4th of July Weekend
The first game of the 4th of July weekend was against visiting Monona. Marshall won 10-9 by holding of a late rally by Monona in the top half of the 9th. Thanks to Jason Setphenson's solo home run in the top of the 8th inning creating the one run margin of victory.

 

The second game versus Waterloo at their annual 4th of July celebration. All of Marshall's runs were driven in by home runs. Totaling 9 runs on 6 home runs; two by starting pitcher Mark Laufenberg, two by Jason Setphenson, one each from Todd Grossman and Tim Deforest. The final score was 9-4 with Marshall on the winning side.

 

April 30, 2000 -- Scrimmage verse Columbus

The team scrimmaged a new expansion team this year the Columbus Blues. The scrimmage was the first meeting between the to teams. It was odd to see familiar faces (former Marshall players) on the opposing team. An excellent crowd was at the park to enjoy the beautiful weather and some cold beverages.

 

March 26, 2000 -- The 2000 League Schedules are released

 

March 15, 2000 -- First MHT Practice

The first practice of the year was a success.  We had nine players show up ready to play.  We played catch in the gym and had batting practice in the batting cage.  It was a good time catching up on the latest baseball news.

 

March 5, 2000 -- New Teams in Home Talent League

At the annual HT League meeting Columbus and Deforest were voted in as new teams to the league.  This means that many players on our team last year will be playing for their hometown teams.  For example, players like Joe Kirchberg, Keven Schepp and Matt Wachholz will be playing for Columbus.  Jeff Armstrong was named Columbus's Head Coach. Clint Seltzner will be playing for Deforest this year.

 

March 5, 2000 -- Commemorative 2000 Year Patch

The HT League players will wear a patch celebrating the new millennium on their uniforms.  Marshall's Jon Frey had the idea and design for the patch.
